Yosemite

We left San Francisco on Sunday, and drove through the valley to the Yosemite National Park. Beautiful mountains and deep ravines there. Eventually we stopped at Yosemite village, a nice shaded valley and park surrounded by close mountains. We walked to the bottom of Yosemite falls, where I climbed to the plunge pool. The waterfall, which is the highest of the US with its 730 meters, was thin due to the draught. It was warm, and a lot of people were cooling off in the pool.

A bit later we stopped at the parking lot of "tunnel view", and enjoyed this fantastic view over the mountains and the valley.

Ah, Yosemite. One of my favorite places in the world, where I often hiked and camped as a kid. And now I live only 2 hours from it!

I am jealous, you being so near that place, and being able to camp there. The other parks (Zion, Bryce, Grand Canyon, Josua) were also great to visit, but this one had me longing for hikes past the horizon. And Mariposa is even nearer!

You've done a good job in sketching the trees - they're very life-like.

Yes sometimes adding other colours in wet paint just works. Thanks Michael.

The more your lines become minimal, the more your drawings gain strength. I really like this series in US and how you're going to the essential.

Thanks Florence, I try not draw too much, leave it to the colours. Anyway, it was a quick sketch, no time for elaborate linework. The bus was waiting.
